Character Without Question Award recipients are recognized for embodying SBISD’s Core Characteristics

Spring Branch ISD recognized 48 Character Without Question Award recipients during the SBISD Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The awards, which were established 18 years ago, honor students who demonstrate their outstanding character through positive actions.

“This is one of the most exciting events of the year!” said Chris Earnest, SBISD Board of Trustees president. “We are proud of these students and happy to recognize them for this remarkable achievement.”

One student was chosen from each campus for exemplifying SBISD’s Core Characteristics of a T-2-4 Ready Graduate

  • Academically Prepared
  • Ethical & Service-minded
  • Empathetic & Self-aware
  • Persistent & Adaptable
  • Resourceful Problem-solver
  • Communicator & Collaborator

The students were nominated by their teachers, counselors, school administrators or other students. Character Without Question Award recipients were selected after meeting with a panel of campus staff and answering questions highlighting their character, trustworthiness and decision-making skills.

“We are so proud of Carlos! He has shown the values we have taught him at home and has exemplified them in the classroom,” said Flor Gamez, parent of the Character Without Question Award recipient from the Panda Path School for Early Learning. “This is a great award that encourages students to continue being their best selves.”

All student award winners received a framed recognition and enjoyed a pre-awards reception. SBISD thanks longtime program sponsors the Spring Branch Education Foundation and Wells Fargo for their support of this program and our students.

“It is a great honor to receive this award from two campuses!” said Allison Howard, a 12th-grade student who was the Character Without Question Award recipient from the Guthrie Center and Stratford High. “I joined SBISD in the seventh grade and it has been a great experience since. Here I have learned that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.”
